“You’re packing like you’re going to leave forever!”
I sat on top of my LV luggage, at the same time attempting to zip it up. I failed, much to Teddy’s amusement.
“Can you at least help me?” I huffed, walking over to where he was seated on the couch and grabbed the TV remote away from me.
He looked up, surprised.
“Why are you even at my place so early in the morning anyway?” I dropped the remote on the coffee table and sighed.
Teddy just shrugged, not budging from his spot.
That’s Teddy – the only thing that could make him move was a throng of hot Victoria’s Secret models. Suddenly I wished I were one of them right now…
“I came by ‘cos I’m going to miss you,” he spoke nonchalantly, leaning forward to grab the remote. “I don’t think I can live a day without seeing you.”
I scoffed.
“All you’re going to miss is someone to cook for you,” I slapped the back of his head and I heard him yelp in pain. “Now help me zip that bag.”
Teddy smirked and threw the remote he was holding down before finally walking over to where my unzipped luggage laid.
“You’ve been to Chicago before, right?”
I just watched as Teddy fiddled with the zippers and under a second, he managed to zip it up without breaking a sweat.
He looked up at me with a satisfied smirk.
“Ta-da!” he lifted it up and brought it into my room, dumping it with the rest of my luggage. “You should try going out at night when you’re there…”
I followed him into my room, and found him sitting at the edge of my bed staring back at me.
“The view’s really sick at night.”
I nodded.
“Any good places to eat?” I walked over to where he was and plopped next to him. “Don’t say you don’t know ‘cos I know you went to a really cool place with that Russian model once…”
He chuckled.
“Why do I get the feeling that you keep track of all the girls I go out with?”
I tried not to scoff.
“It’s hard not to when you keep bragging about them,” I shot back at him.
Teddy suddenly laughed before standing up.
“I’ll stop bragging when you start dating me instead,” he winked.
I grabbed one of my pillows and threw it at him.
“Over Anna Wintour’s dead body!”
Me?
Date a guy, let alone my best friend?
Right …

BANY: You're gunna leave 'em fallin' down-own-own
☀Friday: It’s time for the annual Victoria's Secret runway show! Katy Perry and Akon are performing, A-list celebrities are all coming and it's going to be one hell of a show. Come early because you'll be doing press and hair & make-up all day. The show starts filming at 6:00PM and there's an after party afterwards.

>>

“Good job for a first timer,” Isabella congratulated me as we walked into the after party – already packed with everyone who’s anyone.
I thought I saw Diddy for a second…
“Thanks,” I smiled widely at Isabella. “I’m just glad I didn’t fall flat on my face!”
She laughed, before excusing herself to join the other top angels.
Meanwhile, I found myself lost in the crowd of celebrities, models and a few from the media, who made me stop and take photographs once in a while.
“What’s your name? Where’re you from?”
“So is this your first show?”
“I thought you did FANTASTIC!”
If I thought the press before the show was crazy … I was wrong.
“Get use to it,” Grace told me after I finally managed to pull myself away from the claws of the media.
I nodded, before taking a glass of cocktail from one of the girls – my third glass of the night, to be precise.
I sat around with the others, talking about the show and reliving the moments when I spotted someone.
A guy …
Tall, dark-haired and making his way towards me right now…
“Excuse me,” I muttered before slipping away unnoticed as the rest were too busy laughing at some joke someone had made.
“Hey …,” I greeted the guy – while trying to recall his name at the same time.
Aaron … Eric … El-something …
“Eli!” I probably said it out too enthusiastically. “I remember your name…”
He chuckled, and I thought my stomach did a 360-flip!
“I remember your name, too Elyse,” he spoke. “And you did great on the show today.”
Pause.
He watched the show?!
Wait, of course he does – he’s a young hot-blooded male. Every straight guy in the world would know about Victoria Secret fashion shows!
“Thanks,” I replied, feeling myself blush and for once, I am thankful for the dim lighting in here.
“Sorry I didn’t get a chance to call you,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. “I’ve been, uh … busy.”
I just shrugged as I drank what’s left of my drink.
“It’s okay.”
It’s not like I was waiting for him to call or anything – I’ve been too busy preparing for today’s show to even remember to eat!
“So,” Eli looked at me with a sparkle in his eyes.
Or maybe it’s just me imagining things. I think I had too much of whatever I’m drinking …
“OHMYGOSH!”
I swirled around, surprised by the sudden screeching from behind me and found a group of girls gawking at us.
No – not /us/ … but at Eli!
“IT’S ELI MATTHEWS!”
Cue another round of shrieking before they started rushing over to him with their cellphones and cameras – I barely managed to jump out of their way.
Then every one of them started saying something to him at the same time.
“Can we take pictures … did you come to watch the VS show … you don’t go to parties often … can I have your babies…”
I had to stop myself from laughing at the last one.
Eli threw me an apologetic look before turning to his legion of fangirls.
I just watched from the side as they took photos, and he even hugged one of them in an attempt to have them leave in peace.
It worked – and they left soon after with huge smiles on their faces.
“Wow,” I walked over to his side, smirking. “Someone’s famous.”
He turned to face me, and grinned.
“I guess ‘famous’ is a word to describe it,” he replied nonchalantly.
“I thought you’re some kinda frat boy with rich parents or something,” I chuckled, recalling his group of friends from when we first met.
He cocked an eyebrow at me.
“Frat boy?”
I nodded, and that made him laugh.
“I’m too old to be a frat boy, or college,” he spoke once he had stopped laughing. “But yes, I do have rich parents.”
Suddenly, I felt like something in me just burst. And deflated.
“Oh,” I muttered, looking down on my shoes instead as if it’s more interesting than him.
So he’s just another one of those rich snobby kids who party till late nights using their last name to get lucky with life.
Figures…
“You think I’m a snob, don’t you?”
I looked up, taken aback.
“No…”
Okay – so I’m really bad at lying and Eli could see right through it, because the smile on his face faded into a frown instead.
“It’s just,” I stuttered, trying to gather the right words in my head but failed. “I have a ‘thing’ against rich kids, I guess ‘cos they always seem to have the easier way in life while we underprivileged kids have to claw our way up fighting for what we want and not always getting it in the end. At least that’s how I see it anyway.”
Eli was silent, just studying me for a moment before the corner of his lips twisted into a weak smile.
“Well,” he leaned closer to me. “I think I can change how you see things…”
I turned and our faces were just inches apart – and I felt my heart raced as I felt his breath on me.
“Hmm,” I gulped, leaning backwards. “I think I need another one of this drinks…”
I gestured to the now empty glass in my hand.
The smirk on his face loosened and he was now smiling at me.
“How many of it have you had?”
I shrugged.
“I don’t know … but who’s counting?”

PRINCESSES & PRINCES
JOIN!

“You know most kids hope for a car for their 16th birthday, not a country!”
- Mia Thermopolis, THE PRINCESS DIARIES

once upon a time, in a land far far away, there lived a young princess who dreams of a happily ever after…

GROUP INFO:

♔ this RP is inspired by modern day royalties. all the characters are princesses (& maybe a few duchesses, too) living their seemingly perfect lives, being the glamorous public figure or the new fashion icons. all of them will be from different countries, but most of them have settled in New York City. some fell in love with the Big Apple & had made it their home (for now, till they’re forced into marriage & return to rule their kingdom) while others were sent here to study at the top colleges in the Upper East Side.

if you think that life is easy for them – with all the money & power one could just dream about – think again. like they say, happily ever after only exists in fairytales…

CDVV: have fun in the sun and forget about your worries
Wednesday : The cruise just stopped at Big Island Hawaii. We are going to head down to the beach, today we are going to snorkel, swim with the dolphins, stare at the hot bods, get a good tan … and well have fun.

>>

“Going out?” Kitty, just out from the bathroom, studied me from head to toe.
I smiled and nodded, slinging my backpack onto my shoulder.
“I wanna spend some me-time on the island,” I told her.
She just nodded knowingly before walking away, drying her wet hair with a towel.
“Have fun!” I heard her say as I walked out of the room.
Yup – that I will!

I walked barefeet along the beach, watching people of all ages and ethnicity having a blast doing what they do.
Swimming.
Surfing.
Sun tanning.
Or simply checking each other out.
I had worn a bikini underneath my shirt – but who am I kidding?
I can’t even swim, and all hell will break loose if my mother found out that I had exposed too much skin. In public.
Gasp – the horror!
So instead, I laid out a blanket next to a family from Paris – lovely little kids! – and just sat down to people watch.
Then I remembered that I’d brought along my Polaroid camera and quickly dished it out from my backpack.
I love Polaroid – it’s my latest obsession.
Which I would probably dump out of the window once I get bored of it – probably sometime soon.
I took snapshots of everything.
The sea.
Some hot local guys surfing.
Girls in assorted colored bikinis tanning.
The French kid next to me.
I even took photos of myself – because I’m so vain like that…
Next up on my to-do list?
Not that I had one to begin with, since this whole thing was done on impulse…
Hey, I should go check out the local stores.
That’ll be fun!

“Where are you from?”
I looked away from the rack of beaded necklaces and smiled widely.
“Singapore,” I proudly told the storeowner, a petite tanned lady who seemed to be about in her 50s. “It’s an island, too. But not as gorgeous as Hawaii.”
She chuckled when I said that.
“I’ll give you a discount for that necklace for saying that,” she said and I thought I would break into a crazy dance right there and then.
I walked out of the store, practically on cloud nine as I carefully placed my new purchase into my backpack.
Then, I spotted someone.
He looked familiar, but I couldn’t point out who exactly.
Without even realizing it, I started walking towards him and next thing I knew, I was right behind him, facing his back.
As if feeling my presence, he turned – probably surprised to find some girl staring at him.
“Yes?” he asked, slinging the camera he was holding his shoulder.
GASP!
NOW I KNOW WHERE I’D SEEN HIM BEFORE!
“T-that night…” I stuttered, pointing a finger at him. “On the deck – it’s you! Camera guy!”
He just stared at me.
Sh.t, he must think that I’m some kinda lunatic on the loose right now…
“Do I know you?” he rested a hand on his hip.
I opened my mouth to say something, but stopped.
No, he probably doesn’t because he ignored me the last time – and from the way he sounds right now, he’s probably going to do the same again.
“Never mind,” I shrugged. “I think I got the wrong person.”
He took a glance at me from head to toe, before looking down at the camera on his hand.
I took that as a hint to leave him alone.
“Sorry to bother you,” I rolled my eyes and walked away, not even caring to take another look at him.

//LETTER TO MELISSA

Hey best friend!

Guess where I’m at????

HAWAII babeh! I’m sending you some shots I took on my Polaroid – ‘cos I know you missed me (HA!). I also bought you a gift – matching necklaces! I got it for cheap. Hawaiians are really nice people. And I wanted to buy everything that I saw earlier. Everything was amazing!

I didn’t go for swimming lessons – I think I’m too intimidated by the big guys that taught on the island. It’s okay, I’ll just watch the pros do their thing from the sideline.

Oh, and before you ask, yes I did meet a guy on board. But it’s not what you think.

You can call him ‘cute’ – though not exactly my style. You know I dig the whole Johnny Depp thing… Anyway, this isn’t exactly Romeo we’re talking about. I met him first on deck a few nights ago. Thought he was cool cos he was taking photographs on his DSLR (remember I used to have one and we’d take photos of EVERYTHING?!).
But know what? He totally ignored me when I called out to him! And he did the same again today – though he did spoke to me this afternoon. He said a total FIVE words to me. I think that’s a record for a guy who ignores people.

I’ll write to you again, soon babe. Yes, I’m WRITING LETTERS. Emails are so cliché. Plus by the time you read this I’d probably be in another fantabulous place! That’s just more exciting…

Love me lots and lots
Nina

“Honey, take off that animal on your head.”
I stared, confused at Miranda before Linds pointed to the beanie I was wearing.
“Oh,” I muttered silently before pulling it off my head and chucked it into the back pocket of my jeans.
I heard Isabella scoff before turning back to the photos that laid on the table.
“Elyse will be wearing outfit 8 …,” Miranda paused, flipping through some photos before finally looking up at me. “And 20. Have been practicing walking in heels?”
She stared at my boots, quirking an eyebrow.
“Yeah,” I replied. “Every single day.”
I thought I saw a smile from her before she called out Luella, one of the VS stylists over.
“No wings for this one either?” Luella asked, looking rather amused.
Wings?
… OH! I’d seen those wings before on TV.
“Psh,” Linds scoffed. “Suddenly everyone wants to have wings, don’t they?”
While both Isabella and her exchanged knowing looks, I just stood there. Confused.
“Elyse,” Miranda called me out after telling Luella about my outfits. “I need you to stay behind and get some walking lessons from Trisha…”
She scanned around the room, before calling out some guy who had about 4 or 5 hangers of lingerie in his hand.
“Get me Trisha,” she demanded and the guy went scurrying away.
Then she turned back to me.
“Go try your outfits,” she smiled and turned back to the photos. “Get me the next girl.”
Luella gestured for me to follow her and as I was about to walk away, Linds smiled at me.
“Good luck for tomorrow,” she said with a wide smile plastered on her face.
I didn’t know whether she genuinely meant it or not.
But I just returned her smile.
“Thanks.”
She flipped back her hair and turned to Miranda.
“I think you’ll looks stunning in this piece,” I heard Luella said and I noticed she was pointing to outfit 8.
It was a purple lingerie, with a spike metal piece to be worn over it.
“That looks a LITTLE dangerous, doesn’t it?” I asked.
Luella just laughed before dragging me into the changing room.
“Oh, you’ll rock it, honey…”

CDVV: STORY UP! we shall start a new life tonight
Monday : We are going to check-in to the cruise, check-in to our room, and get ready… because tonight is our Formal Dinner night at the Across the Universe.
dress code; for girls + guys- formal attire

>>

collab with layla/colormeamazing :)

“This is the first time in my life that I’m sharing a wardrobe with another girl,” I said, turning to my new roommate Kitty Na, who was from China.
She smiled, looking so much like a porcelain doll.
“Will you be going to the dinner tonight?” she asked as she continued to hang her clothes into the wardrobe – which was smaller than the one I had back home but hey, it’s not like I brought everything I owned on board!
“I think it’s a must,” I replied. “But hey, where there’s food, there’s me!”
Kitty just grinned.
It felt weird, since I don’t usually open up to people easily. But around Kitty it felt … comfortable. Maybe because we have a few things in common – like we’re both Asians. We both have strict parents.
“You can go first if you want,” she said, sitting on her bed after she was done. “I might want take a long time getting ready.”
I smiled and just nodded.
“Now … the big question right now is …what am I going to wear?”
And this was why I’d always wanted a sister.
So I could get fashion advice or have someone to do my hair for me.
Yup, I’m liking this cruise more and more now…

I sat alone at the table, scanning the room and exchanging shy smiles with the other guests around.
I felt my stomach grumble and I sighed.
I knew I should have eaten breakfast this morning at the hotel. But no, I had to be too enthusiastic about this trip that all I could think of was getting onto this ship ASAP.
I was busy cursing myself under my breath when I felt someone next to me. I turned, and found a tall (and very gorgeous) girl slipping into the empty seat next to me.
I just watched as she fumbled in her seat, before my attention diverted to her dress.
Hervé Léger – sexy yet classy, and damn I wish I own one of these …
“Nice dress,” I complimented her, and she abruptly turned to face me.
“Thank you,” she replied, smiling. “I love yours.”
I knew she was just being kind, yet i couldn't help but lit up.
"I didn't wanna be too ... flashy," I tugged on my dress gently. "But it was either this, or the sequin leggings i'd bought on impulse during a sale!"
We both chuckled, and somehow the tense atmosphere i'd felt earlier had gotten more relaxed now.
"We're girls," she spoke, fiddling with the ring on her finger. "It's our habit i guess to buy things that we don't even wear."
I nodded.
"By the way, I'm Nina," I held out my hand to her, putting on my widest and most genuine smile I could pull off.
She smiled back before shaking my hand. “Layla.”
"You've got a pretty name. Where are you from?"
"I was born in Lebanon. But I grew up between London and Paris,” she explained.
London? Paris? I would so love to hate her right now but I can’t…
"Ooh, wow. I'm from Singapore."
She just smiled. "I could tell."
"Ever been there?" I asked, placing my hands on the edge of the table as I got more interested in getting to know Layla better.
"Once,” she replied. “My dad had to travel a lot so I traveled with him when I could and he had to go to Singapore once so I went with him."
"Did you like it?"
"Yes, definitely. It's such a unique place."
I stifled a laugh – ‘unique’ is such an overrated and overly used word to describe Singapore, but before I could point that out to her, a throng of guys in black and white suits came into the place, carrying plates with them.
A few of them headed towards our table and professionally placed them in front of us.
"Oohkay, I'm sure as hell not used to that,” I heard Layla muttered.
"Me neither," I laughed. "But this /is/ pretty impressive..."
I tried not to drool at the juicy steak placed in front of me, garnished with herbs and what i think are tomatoes shaped into a flower.
I turned to look at Layla and realized she, too, seemed like she was captivated by her own plate.
"Isn't it too pretty to be eaten?" i asked, in almost whisper as i stole a glance at the waiters standing around us.
Layla turned to my gaze and grinned.
"Actually, i'm more terrified of these guys behind us," she muttered. "I hate it when people stare at me when i eat."
I gasped. "Oh my gosh - me too! I don't like to be stared at in general..."
We both laughed, before picking up our fork and knives.
I started digging into my steak and after much hesitation, i took a bite and wow - it was good!
"So Layla," I took a sip of water, and gently patted the side of my lips. "What's it like to be in so many different countries? I bet it's fun."
She didn't answer me immediately, pushing her food back and forth before looking up.
"It is, i guess," she shrugged.
"You don't sound really excited,” I spoke, smiling faintly at her.
She bit on her lip before continuing.
"It's not just traveling and seeing the world, you know. I lived between the two places because my dad lived in London and my mom lived in Paris. And you know, after a while you just get tired of all of this, you know? It's not like you can spontaneously decide to visit your dad because it takes one hell of a train ride or a plane ride and it's not that fun after a while," she suddenly stopped. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to tell you all this. You must think I'm a freak for telling you all of this."
"Nooo!” I told her. I placed my fork by the side of my plate and gently squeezed her arm, as if to assure her of some sort. "It's totally fine, I'm glad you told me. I know how it feels being on this cruise without anyone you know so noo ... you are not a freak. At least not for telling me all of this. We are all freaks after all, right?"
"True. Being normal is overrated anyways, right?" she grinned.
"Wise words, sister!"
Layla just chuckled.
"Aren't you eating?" I gestured to her uneaten steak.
"Uhm. I'm vegetarian actually. I forgot to mention it in my application, I guess," she explained sheepishly.
"Oh shoot! Well, you can have my salad! And I can have your steak."
"This could be the beginning of a very good friendship, Nina."
I placed my bowl of salad towards her and grinned happily when she gave me her steak.
Yes, I'm a carnivore - sue me!
I got to know Layla better during our meal, exchanging stories of my childhood - which basically summed as 'being bullied everyday by my brothers' and 'wished i could leave singapore everyday' - and talking about the things to do on the cruise.
"Let's hang out again once we reach Hawaii," I told her as the waiters took our plates away.
It made me wonder how they could just stand and look at us eat all this while...
Layla took the napkin, and slowly patted her lips before turning to me.
"Sure," she nodded. "But count me out if all we're going to do is suntan in our bikinis and wait for guys to rub lotion on our back."
I laughed - Layla sure does have a witty sense of humor, i must say. And i like that about her.
"Ergh," I made a face. "I've had enough of suntanning back home. Though i wouldn't mind checking out local guys ..."
We both laughed, promised to keep in contact again before parting ways as the Formal Dinner ended.

I walked back to my room alone, only to find that Kitty wasn’t there.
Ah, she must still be at the dinner…
I dumped my clutch on my bed before walking out, hoping to catch some nice sea breeze on the upper deck of the cruise.
I didn’t mind that the strong wind was messing up my hair as I closed my eyes and just leaned against the railing, not really thinking about anything in particular either.
I just wanted to relax.
And do nothing …
That was until I heard footsteps behind me.
I opened my eyes and turned around, to find someone stopping abruptly just a few steps behind me.
It was a guy – Asian, probably but under the dim lighting, I really couldn’t tell.
We stared at each other for a second before he walked away.
Okay … that was weird.
I watched as he walked away, with a little swagger to his step and then, he stopped.
He held up something in his hand and brought it close to his eyes, and I realized he was holding a camera – a DSLR, one of the good ones. I know, because I used to own one until I got bored of photography and sold it to a vintage store for a good price.
“Are you a photographer?” I called out to him, smiling – it’d become an instant reaction tonight, to smile at anyone new I met on board.
He turned to face me, studying me from head to toe for a while before walking off.
Like I wasn’t even there.
“Rude much,” I muttered under my breath.
If I’d been annoyed by Mr Arrogant then, I totally forgot about it when I thought I saw another ship on the far side of the ocean.
And then my mind went wild, imagining what it was like on /that/ ship, if they had formal dinners and awkward introductions, or if they’re heading to some exotic island like we are…
I’m enjoying this freedom.
Very, very much…

{I’m thinking of making this LETTER TO MOM every now & then… just because, LOL!}

MONDAY, 15 NOV.

Dear Mom,

I got on the ship safely! No scratches, and no, I didn’t fall into the ocean. But I’m thinking of signing up for a swimming class while I’m here. Because our next stop is Hawaii – remember I always told you I wanted to learn how to surf? Maybe now I can … :)

Anyway, I hope you don’t keep worrying about me. It’ll just stress you out and your blood pressure will rise – we don’t want that, do we?

I met a few nice friends here, too. My roommate is Kitty – isn’t her name cute?! – and she’s from China. She looks like a doll. And then at dinner tonight I met another girl from Lebanon. Her name’s Layla. You would so love her, Mom.

I need to go to sleep now. So much to do tomorrow!

You know I love you, right Mom?

Kisses and hugs,
Your one and only daughter – NINA.

☆ Kim Ryu
Country From/ age: Seoul, S.Korea / 26
Bio: At first glance, it seems like Ryu can easily beat the daylight out of someone with his brooding eyes and scruffy look. Well, he actually can but underneath his bad boy image is a guy who goes weak in the knees for animals and little kids. He only talks when it’s necessary, and would prefer to be on his own most of the time. No one really knows of his past, but word has it, he was pretty well known back home – something about heir to some million-dollar electronics company. He’ll just scoff if you mention that to him, though. Ryu can usually be found with a camera in his hands, silently snapping away photos (of what, that is another mystery) and it’s safe to say that he prefers to be invisible.
